Wednesday Socials – Tempo-Paced Trail Running with Norfolk Trail Runners
Take your trail running to the next level with the Socials, a tempo-paced trail running group designed for runners who want to combine speed, technique, and scenic Norfolk trails. Led by Gemma, Michael, Mark Evans, and other leaders as available, this group offers the perfect mix of challenge and enjoyment.
Trail Running Details – Distance, Pace, and Terrain
The Wednesday Social typically covers 7+ miles in about 1.5 hours, at a pace of roughly 9:30 to 10:30 min/mile. In hillier locations, we tackle some of Norfolk’s most challenging climbs (despite popular opinion, Norfolk is not flat!)
A couple of stops are naturally built in, usually:
- At the top of hills to regroup and recover
- At scenic spots for photos, capturing the beauty of trail running in Norfolk
Leaders ensure each run includes favourite hills, technical trails, and local landmarks, giving runners a challenging but enjoyable experience every week.
Why Join the Social Trail Running Group?
Socials is perfect for runners who want a fast-paced trail run without losing the fun. Key benefits include:
- Race training: Ideal for 10k, half marathon, or ultra training
- Technical trail practice: Build skills on hills, uneven terrain, and technical sections
- Friendly and inclusive atmosphere: No runner is ever left behind
- Community knowledge: Tap into a wealth of trail running advice and tips from experienced runners
Whether you’re pushing your pace, distance, or trail skills, this group combines training with camaraderie.
Recommended Kit for Trail Running
To enjoy your trail running sessions safely and comfortably, consider bringing:
- Trail running trainers with good grip for mud and technical terrain
- Moisture-wicking running clothes suitable for Norfolk weather
- Headtorch during winter months or when running in low light
- Optional gear: lightweight running jacket for wind or rain, hydration pack or belt for longer runs, spare warm layer for any stops
Having the right kit ensures your trail running experience is enjoyable, safe, and effective.
